Google has recently announced two new functions to Gemini that would allow users to share their screen or real-time video with Gemini and ask questions about whatever's showing. The features were initially limited to select Pixel, Samsung, and Gemini Advanced users, but now the folks at Google have made them available to all eligible Android smartphone users.
Gemini is Google's next-gen AI assistant that replaces the Google Assistant on all Android devices, powered by Google's most sophisticated language models, and the multimodal AI capability allows Gemini to acknowledge inputs and respond to text, voice, image, and video inputs.
The current Gemini 2.5 family includes Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash offered in experimental mode, along with Deep Research with 2.5 Pro available to advanced users.
This new feature would allow users to advertise Gemini AI in real-time with their camera feeds or smartphone screen shared with it. Gemini Advanced subscriptions — now free for college students in the U.S. at $20 per month — gives access to Google's latest language models and 2 TB of cloud storage.
The new capabilities of Gemini are also available for iPhone users, but requires a Gemini Advanced subscription.
The new Gemini has multimodal capabilities and can take text, voice, photo, and video inputs and generate real time responses. Gemini is able to help with simple tasks like diagnosing a noisy bike chain or helping troubleshoot technology issues on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, and other devices.
To access Gemini Live, open the app, tap the Gemini Live icon and select either the camera or screen share icon to start using the new Gemini Interface.
