The Ambassador of Spain to India, Juan Antonio March Pujol, met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The meeting centered on investigating options for strategic collaboration between Spain and Odisha in important fields like renewable energy, metallurgy, textiles, and automobiles.

Majhi emphasized Odisha's rise as one of India’s rapidly developing states and a top choice for responsible and future-oriented investments. He spoke of a recent investment by TIMAB Magnesium India Pvt Ltd, part of the French-Spanish Groupe Roullier, which is establishing a Rs 90 crore refractory production facility in Khurda. The project is anticipated to create more than 300 jobs.

The CM informed him about Odisha’s Renewable Energy Policy and urged Spanish companies such as Siemens Gamesa, Acciona, and Iberdrola to consider investments in solar parks, offshore wind, and green hydrogen initiatives. He highlighted Odisha’s dedication to the green transition and welcomed Spanish expertise in floating solar and energy storage technologies.

Majhi welcomed prominent Spanish clothing brands like ZARA, Desigual, and Mango to investigate sourcing hubs and collaborative innovation centers in Odisha’s integrated textile parks. According to a CMO release, the state’s proficient workforce and forward-thinking policy structure were highlighted as significant benefits, noting that the meeting established the groundwork for a new era of industrial, technological, and cultural partnership between the two areas.

Pujol valued the state's vibrant industrial landscape and conveyed Spain's strong enthusiasm for establishing a lasting, technology-driven collaboration.
